Notice:  This is a PAID summer internship opportunity for engineering students from May to August 2021.Internships are temporary,  non-benefit eligible positions.  Hours worked can not exceed 1,039 hours in duration.

General Summary:  Assigned to job duties ranging from mechanic helper to more advanced mechanical duties,  based on level of education.

Examples of Work:

•Serves as an equipment technician trainee by providing support and assisting equipment technicians during vehicleand equipment repair.

•Serves as a lubrication technician by traveling to field locations to perform minor repair and preventative maintenanceon light fleet and heavy construction vehicles.
•Performs minor repairs to tires,  motors,  hydraulic systems,  brakes,  and glass;  cleans engines or parts.
•Performs yearly inspections on trucks and other highway vehicles.•Maintains repair and equipment records.
•May fill reservation requests for backhoes,  dozers,  loaders and other construction equipment.
•Performs basic welding.•Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.


Minimum/Required Qualifications:  A Mechanic Intern must have completed high school and be enrolled in an approved Associate’s degree program.Interns must maintain at least an overall GPA of 2.0 out of 4.0 to be accepted into and/or remain in the internship program.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  None
