Hourly Rate: $17.77 Hourly

Duration of Assignment: Summer of 2024

Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, Saint Louis Regional Office, and will be located at 7545 S. Lindbergh Blvd., Saint Louis, MO 63125.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

  • Assist the Engineering and Compliance unit at the St. Louis Regional office
  • Participate in inspections and permitting activities of water facilities around St. Louis, Missouri via site visits, phone calls, email correspondence, and teleconferencing
  • Monitor and facilitate the follow-up actions requested by water section program analysts
  • Provide customer service and compliance assistance to stakeholders and members of the public with phone calls and email
  • Support the upcoming FFY24 permit renewal projects
  • Prepare reports with data tables and graphs for inspections and special projects in the Water Section
  • Perform other outdoor fieldwork and miscellaneous duties as necessary or as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

Professional Experience to be Gained:

  • Knowledge of water pollution, waste water treatment systems, and current water treatment options
  • Participation in a variety of formal and informal water training programs offered by the department
  • Opportunity to meet with regulatory agency personnel and the operators of water facilities around the St. Louis region
  • If an intern is in an engineering program, the intern will also receive engineering experience hours while working with a Professional Engineer

All you need for success:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate college program
  • Possess a current driver’s license
  • Knowledge and experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Ability to report to work each day regularly between 8 am and 5 pm
