Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, and will be located at 1659 E. Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101. Potential for statewide travel during internship.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

  • Assists with planning, developing and carrying out outdoor recreation programs; such as the Learn2 series, WIN programs and outreach programs.
  • Performs office duties related to planning outdoor recreation programs, volunteer events and trail events to include: obtaining bids, scheduling services, staff and equipment.
  • Assists with trail maintenance, clean-up days, assessing trails and utilizing GPS for documenting routes.
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment, work days at parks and creating volunteer appreciation events and programs.
  • Researches and develops new and creative outdoor recreation programs to provide up-to-date activities for the state park visitor.
  • Creates electronic materials as it relates to outdoor programs, volunteer and trail events, such as: programs, schedules, tickets and fliers.

Qualifications

Professional Experience to be Gained:

  • Planning and developing programs, events and trainings
  • Overview of maintaining natural surface trails and the GPS data behind trials maps
  • Working with a team and meeting deadlines

 All you need for success:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current student pursuing a degree in Parks and Recreation or related field.
  • Experience in outdoor skills such as kayaking, camping, rock climbing, archery or outdoor recreation programming.
  • Valid Missouri Driver’s License
