Hourly Rate: $17.77

Duration of Assignment: June through August; until return to school; or worked 500 hours

Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, Southwest Regional Office, and will be located at 2040 W. Woodland, Springfield, MO

You will be assisting the Air and Land Section with verifying facility status with our regulated facilities, providing compliance assistance to rural fire departments, going out in the field with our various programs, and attending statewide functions.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

  • Providing compliance assistance to rural fire departments to make sure the open burning regulations are better understood.
  • Assessing the status of facilities, which will make inspections more meaningful for the section.
  • Assisting staff with Investigating concerns and conducting inspections.
  • Attend tours of state parks and historic sites as directed by the statewide internship program.

Qualifications

All you need for success:

  • Degree in (or seeking) biology, chemistry, environmental protection, or similar related fields
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with regulated entities and team members
  • Ability to traverse uneven, rough, or difficult terrain
  • Ability to travel, operate a motor vehicle, and maintain a valid operator’s license.
  • Ability to work in the field in a variety of weather conditions
