Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources,  Division of Administrative Support,  and will be located at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building located at 1101 Riverside Drive,  Jefferson City,  Missouri.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn about many of the environmental grants the Department of Natural Resources receives,  from those who know them best!   You’ll be helping the Accounting Program’s Grants and Financial Reporting section with financial reporting and analysis.  You will have the opportunity to work with staff across the Department on various types of fiscal items and learn about the inner workings of environmental management and the financial assistance that helps make it happen.  The work can be very fast-paced as well as detail oriented.


  • Learn about how grants are processed by assisting with various stages of the grant cycle,  including application,  award,  amendment,  in addition to reporting and close-out;
  • Establish grant and other financial codes in the state’s accounting system;
  • Monitor expenditure and revenue transactions for compliance with statutes,  policy or procedure,  as well as accuracy and appropriateness;
  • Assist with fiscal year chart of account set up and maintenance;
  • Assist with the preparation and computation of information for the state’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report;
  • Use Access or Crystal reports,  as well as Excel,  to gather and analyze financial data,  and also create and modify reports.


  • Completion of entry and intermediate accounting courses;
  • Completion of a Governmental Accounting course,  preferred;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel;
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in verbal or written form.
