FCS Financial’s 2022 Credit Internship Program -  10-Week Opportunity for College Students

FCS Financial’s Credit internship is a Unique,  Rewarding,  and Memorable Experience!!

At FCS Financial,  part of the nationwide Farm Credit System,  we are looking for a Credit Intern to join our Team for the summer of 2022 for our 10-Week Internship Opportunity!   FCS Financial is a member of the largest agriculture lending cooperative in the United States today.   At FCS,  we seek individuals who share passion for agriculture,  rural living and helping people achieve their goals and dreams!   We are looking for friendly,  outgoing and confident students that are looking for an extraordinary learning opportunity!

Working with mentors within our Credit Team at our Central Office and 21 Offfice Locations across Missouri,  the Credit Interns will learn about the credit analysis,  credit underwriting decision,  credit fundamentals and credit philosophy.   The Credit Intern will spend some time working in our Central Office,  learning about our Central Office functions (Accounting,  Human Resources,  Information Services,  Legal,  Audit)  in Jefferson City.

The Credit Intern will also complete multiple projects identified by Credit Leadership Team that are hands-on in nature and are approved by our Executive Leadership Team to add value to the Association.   Presentations to the Board of Directors,  Excecutive and Senior Leadership Teams,  mentors and other staff are done in late July prior to the end of the internship.

***This internship is subject to change as outlined.   It can be virtual or in-person learning depending on the current protocols of the Association or current environment in 2022.**

Applications will be accepted until Friday,  November 5,  2021,  for the 2022 Summer Credit Internship Program.

This position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

This 10-Week Internship opportunity typically begins the last full week of May and will conclude the last week of July.

Responsibilities

Job Functions*

50% Internship Program -  (10 Weeks)
  • Learn approach to economic analysis and forecasting
  • Learn impact of macro-economic events on lending and risk management
  • Learn the components of the lending process
  • Learn credit fundamentals and credit philosophy
  • Learn the process of appraising real and chattel properties
  • Learn the variety of risk management options offered by FCS Financial including crop,  livestock,  and life insurance.

Projects

  • Complete one or more projects identified by FCS that are hands-on in nature and designed to add value to the company. 
  • Presentations to the Board of Directors,  senior leadership,  mentors and other staff will be conducted towards the end of the internship.

  • Work with several mentors within various areas of the Association.
  • Interact with FCS staff as a team member.

Marketing

  • Learn about customer relationships and marketing and contribute to FCS image as the leading agriculture financial institution committed to customers.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • College sophomores,  juniors,  first semester seniors,  or graduate students
  • Desired degree programs are Agricultural Business,  Agricultural Economics,  Animal Science,  Agronomy,  Agricultural Education,  Agricultural Communications,  General Agriculture,  Business,  Finance
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • General knowledge of FCS Financial
  • General knowledge of the agricultural industry
  • General knowledge of agriculture/rural communities
  • General knowledge of financial services industry
  • General knowledge of basic financial/accounting terms and applications
  • Skill in using Microsoft technologies including e-mail,  word and spreadsheet processing
  • Oral and written communication skills sufficient to discuss a variety of job-related topics,  and to effectively communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences
  • Responsible to appropriately protect the confidentiality,  security,  and integrity of the Association’s systems and data and clients’  data
