As an intern,  you’ll have real responsibilities,  and you’ll work on productive assignments with actual business interactions.  We know that you work hard,  so we help you play hard while you are here.  We provide a number of intern events throughout the summer to burn some extra energy,  including volunteer events,  power plant tours,  lunch and learns,  and more.

Intern Description:

Using engineering fundamentals,  interns will make recommendations for the Distribution System by analyzing engineering data and processes to improve our operational efficiency.  You will learn how to analyze and interpret data from power quality meters and make recommendations to solve problems involving harmonics,  transients,  voltage sags or swells,  and other reliability issues on the distribution system.

Job tasks include but not limited to:

  • Perform distribution system voltage studies
  • Perform load flow and fault current analysis
  • Perform protective device coordination
  • Perform power factor correction and capacitor placement
  • Perform motor start studies
  • Program distribution equipment such as capacitor controllers,  sectionalizers,  reclosers,  and voltage regulators

Working Conditions:

Conditions will vary from office to field environment.  Some travel may be required within our service territory,  but employees generally return to their work location by the end of the day.
