This paid part-time summer internship position in the Missouri Department of Corrections entails working with the communications team on creating content for digital and print publications as well as special events.  Tasks may include photography,  videography,  social media management,  graphic design,  digital storytelling and campaign development.  The communications team takes a project-based approach to internships,  ensuring you’ll get not only professional experience in a dynamic environment but also finished products to fill your portfolio.

Responsibilities

What you will do: 

Complete special projects such as videos,  social media campaigns and event displays.

Compose and/or compile content for websites,  social media accounts,  newsletters,  brochures,  and other digital or print publications.

Assist in marketing and promotion of agency initiatives such as staff recruitment,  job readiness for incarcerated people,  and programs serving the community.

Help create displays for special events. 

Qualifications

Preferred skills:

  • Creativity and enthusiasm.
  • Photography and/or videography experience.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to conduct interviews and establish rapport with subjects.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously. 

strong>Minimum qualifications:

Working toward a college degree in journalism,  communications,  public relations,  marketing or a related field.
