Description

180 Fitness strives to make the intern experience unique and rewarding,and to provide the opportunity to obtain focused experience in the area of fitness.  An internship with 180 Fitness provides students with exposure and/or experience in many,  or all,  of the following areas:

  • Program administration
  • Health promotion
  • Fitness programming
  • Fitness testing and exercise prescription
  • Habit-based coaching
  • Group exercise class instruction
  • Facility maintenance
  • Personal training
  • Participant record keeping
  • Social media management

Health fairs and health screenings

The intern shall be assigned a special project/event where he/she will work under the guided supervision of the Intern Coordinator and Gym Manager to gain hands-on experience from start to finish of the the project/event.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with organizing,  implementing  and instructing exercise programs for individuals and groups.
  • Oversee operations of facility and maintain routine cleaning and   maintenance.
  • Perform initial assessments and orientation for members and clients.  
  • Provide health and wellness programming 
  • Work one-on-one with personal training cients
  • Facilitate and assist with semi-private training sessions.
  • Posting relelvant content on social media sites
  • Assist in publishing member newsletter
  • Assist in marketing campaigns

Qualifications

  • Junior or Senior level Baccalaureate level student working towards a  degree in physical education,  exercise physiology,  kinesiology,  recreation,  health education,  health promotion or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Self-starter,  takes initiative and can work independently if needed.
  • Candidates must exhibit strong organizational skills,and the ability to work with a team.
  • Must have strong written communication skills,  proficient in spelling,  grammer and have a decent vocabulary.
  • Enthusiastic,  out-going,  warm manner. 
  • Physically fit and committed to living a healthy lifestyle.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the human anatomy and physiology
  • Be coachable,  willing time learn and grow,  work hard,  and be passionate about helping others
  • Able to work the occasional Saturday
