Notice:  As an intern with MoDOT,  you will provide technical expertise and be part of a talented team todeliver transportation projects for the state of Missouri.  You will have the opportunity tocollaborate with the public,  local agencies,  contractors,  consultants and federal and stateagencies to solve transportation challenges for the citizens of Missouri.  You will have a variety ofroles and responsibilities depending on your experience and assignments.  You will make adifference in your community by improving the safety,  reliability and condition of thetransportation system.This is a wage,  non-benefits eligible position,  working no more than 1,039hours per year.  The start date for this position is June 1,  2021;  and typical working hours areMonday through Friday,  from 7:30 a.m.  to 4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

Examples of Work:

•Utilizes computer aided drafting,  road design software and various other computer software packages to assist in thepreparation of computer generated design plans by drafting and adding text to the design file and producing plan sheets.

•Utilizes design software,  computer aided design and drafting,  or calculator to calculate quantities,  types and sizes ofmaterials and other information as required for project assignments;  prepares summaries of quantities.

•Delineates right of way on plans and computes areas;  prints microfilm plans and maps for survey research and requests.

•Mounts displays,  project overviews,  maps,  and photos for public hearings and presentations;  prepares handouts forbid lettings,  public hearings,  legal hearings and public meetings.

•Researches historical databases and records;  locates and reproduces highway plans that are kept on microfilm or compact disk for designers,  the general public,  contractors,  consultants,  and utility companies.

•Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned

Qualifications

Minimum/Required Qualifications:  Must be a college undergraduate enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in engineering from an ABET-accreditedcollege or university curriculum who has completed their freshman year (normally 30 semester hours)  in engineeringcoursework;  or must be a college undergraduate enrolled in pre-engineering at a college having a transfer agreement,with an intent to obtain a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.

College undergraduates enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in computer science,  computer information systems,  orgeographic information sciences,  who have completed their freshman year (normally 30 semester hours)  in theappropriate discipline,  will also be considered.

Must maintain at least an overall G.P.A.  of 2.0 out of 4.0 to be accepted into and/or remain in the internship program.
