General Summary:  Assigned to job duties related to archaeological identification,  testing,  and mitigating of archaeological sites and field work.

Examples of Work:

  • Duties will focus primarily on archaeological fieldwork,  specially survey and site testing,  with a possibility for siteexcavation.
  • Preparation of recovered artifacts for analysis and curation.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned


Minimum/Required Qualifications:

Must be currently enrolled in and have completed at least 30 semester hours in an undergraduate program inanthropology,  architectural history,  history,  or closely related field.  Undergraduate students who will be graduating in theSpring of 2021 may apply for this internship.Must maintain at least an overall G.P.A.  of 2.0 out of 4.0 to be accepted into and/or remain in the internship program.Successful completion of a range of motion examination and medical-physical examination.

Special Working Conditions/Job Characteristics:

Extensive overnight travel,  within the state of Missouri,  using a state-owned vehicle is required.Employees must have funds to cover travel expenses (meals)  until they are reimbursed on or around the middle of thefollowing month.  Meals and lodging are not reimbursable when working in and around Jefferson City (MoDOT’s CentralDistrict).
