General Summary:  Assigned to job duties ranging from construction assistant to senior construction technician based on level of educationand summer job experience.

Examples of Work:

•Performs basic construction tests such as air,  slump,  moisture,  compaction,  aggregate gradation,  and density andreports results to supervisor.

•Assists in inspection of bituminous and portland cement concrete plants and/or grading,  base,  bituminous or concretepaving.

•Maintains records and prepares reports pertaining to inspections,  keeps supervisor informed of activities or unusualconditions,  and ensures projects meet department standards.

•Enters and records information regarding construction projects into computer programs.

•Assists on routine layout,  staking,  and surveying or future construction projects;  may operate survey instruments.

•Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.


Minimum/Required Qualifications:  High School Diploma or GED/HiSET,  including successful completion of an trigonometry course.Must be enrolled in a Civil Engineering program at an accredited college or university with completion of freshman year(normally 30 credit hours)  and an overall GPA of 2.0 out of 4.0 or greater.
