Description

This is an unpaid internship.  Spring applications will be accepted until January 3,  2021,  at 11:59 pm Central Time.  Spring applicants will be contacted within 14 days of receipt of all application materials.  Incomplete applications not accepted.  Spring interns will be selected by January 20,  2021.  Spring internships will begin February 1,  2021.  Summer applications will be accepted until February 28,  2021,  at 11:59 pm Central Time.  Summer applicants will be contacted within 14 days of receipt of all application materials.  Incomplete applications not accepted.  Summer interns will be selected no later than March 15,  2021.  Summer internships will begin June 1,  2021.

Responsibilities

This is a part-time,  15-hour per week,  unpaid telecommuting internship.  The internship is for 12 weeks and will give an insight into the key skills required to fundraise for a nonprofit organization.  Fundraising &  Grant Writing interns will work closely alongside the Chief Executive Officer and fundraising committee.  Areas of focus include:

  • Monetary Donations
  • Network with potential donors to solicit one-time and recurring monetary donations;  previous donor outreach and retention activities.
  • In-Kind Donations
  • Network with potential donors to solicit in-kind donations of materials and supplies;  previous donor outreach and retention activities.
  • Grant Writing
  • Learn about the grant writing process;  maintain grant calendar;  manage the grant writing process for 1-3 grant applications for the 2021 fiscal year.
  • Campaigns and Promotion
  • Pitch fundraising campaigns to print,  broadcast,  and digital media;  utilize social media and develop strategies for web-based fundraising;  create a personal fundraising campaign and meet targets.

Qualifications

Self-starter who can produce great results with limited supervision.  Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to lead meetings and give speeches.  Desire to serve in a fiduciary role in the non-profit sector.  Background in finance,  fundraising,  and/or political campaigning preferred.  Applicants must pass a background check.
