Description

General Summary:Assigned to job duties ranging from construction assistant to senior construction technician,  based on level of educationand summer job experience.

This position is a seasonal,  non-benefit eligible position working up to 1,039 hours.

Remote work location and/or teleworking is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

Examples of Work:•Performs basic construction tests such as air,  slump,  moisture,  compaction,  aggregate gradation,  and density;  reportsresults to supervisor.  Assists in inspection of bituminous and portland cement concrete plants and/or grading,  base,bituminous or concrete paving.  Maintains records and prepares reports pertaining to inspections;  keeps supervisorinformed of activities or unusual conditions;  ensures projects meet department standards.  Enters and recordsinformation regarding construction projects into computer programs.  Assists on routine layout,  staking,  and surveyingof future construction projects;  may operate survey instruments.  Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum/Required Qualifications:Must be enrolled in a civil engineering program at an accredited college or university with completion of freshman year(normally 30 semester hours)  and an overall GPA of 2.0 out of 4.0.
