JOB SUMMARY:  Assigned to job duties similar to a structural designer,  with increased supervision,  and based on level of education and previous work experience.


·  Uses engineering software,  spreadsheets,  or performs design computations to develop bridge design aids.

·  Develops spreadsheets for limited scope design tasks.

·  Reviews American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO)  Load Resistance Factor Design (LRFD)  code articles and compares with engineering policy guidance.

·  Reviews history files for data collection.

·  Assists the Bridge Management section with bridge load-rating,  collecting and inputting National Bridge Inventory data,  working on special rating projects,  and helping with bridge inspections (if desired).

·  Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.


Must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled in a civil engineering program at an accredited college or university with completion of freshman year (normally 30 semester hours);  and maintain an overall G.P.A.  of 2.0 out of 4.0.
