As an intern,  you’ll have real responsibilities,  and you’ll work on productive assignments with actual business interactions.  We know that you work hard,  so we help you play hard while you are here.  We provide a number of intern events throughout the summer to burn some extra energy,  including volunteer events,  power plant tours,  lunch and learns,  and more.

PAY RANGE:  $15.00-  $18.00

Scheduled Work Hours:  Monday -  Friday,  flexible hours between 8:00 a.m.  -  5:00 p.m.


Intern Description:

Under general direction,  assist Corporate Communications team members with message and campaign development and execution for internal and external audiences.  May also be responsible for performing routine administrative functions.

Job tasks include but not limited to:

  • Support executive management in the preparation of speeches,  letters,  speaking points as needed.
  • Under general direction,  develop and implement innovative communications plans and programs for news media,  consumer groups,  customers,  employees and other targeted audiences.
  • Assist in the management of special communications and/or special events through the development of written or visual pieces for company publications,  news media kits,  fact sheets,  letters,  speeches and speaking points.
  • Community relations and public speaking.
  • Social media &  marketing aptitude.
  • Assisting our Government Affairs and Community Relations as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule –  some evening and weekend work required.


Education and Experience Requirements:

MBA graduate student or upper-class undergraduate student in good standing with the School of Business,  Journalism or Communications.  Public Relations emphasis is preferred.

Skills,  Knowledge and Abilities Required:

Must be able to effectively use oral and written communication skills and be able to work effectively with others in a team environment.  Must be able to apply analytical thinking,  creative problem solving,  and sound reasoning.  Must have high ethical standards and the ability to remain independent.  Must have the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities at the same time.  Must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills including being organized,  self-motivated,  dependable,  perceptive,  decisive,  objective,  tactful,  assertive,  and persuasive.  Must possess the ability to present a professional image to obtain the confidence,  trust and cooperation of the customer.

Working Conditions:

Normal office working conditions.  Ability to meet strict deadlines and work well under pressure.  Must have excellent work record including good attendance.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.
