Description

The Weights,  Measures,  &  Consumer Protection Division is comprised of four programs that are responsible for maintaining equity in the marketplace.  This is accomplished by assuring the accuracy of weighing and measuring devices which are used commercially;  monitoring the weighing and measuring practices of buyers and sellers alike to assure accuracy and fair dealing in the exchange of goods and services;  establishing requirements for methods and tolerances for moisture-measuring devices;  inspecting eggs to insure they meet proper grade standards for quality and size;  prohibiting milk sales practices that unfairly divert trade from a competitor;  establishing safety standards for handling and use of anhydrous ammonia,  liquefied petroleum gases and petroleum products,  as well as establishing quality standards for motor fuel.  

Responsibilities

Interns will be provided the opportunity to experience the five programs such as: overview of the metrology lab and land survey programs,  assisting in the fuel lab,  traveling with a fuel device safety inspector,  traveling with our large and small scale inspectors,  and assisting in the office with data entry and other various duties.  

Qualifications

Full-time college student (Freshman through Senior).    Academic Status:  Preferred 3.0 or higher and in good academic standing Internships will begin in May 16,  2020 and end the week of August 20,  2020 (will also work with school schedule).
