Description

As part of its developing agritourism model,  Johnson Farms is looking for an agricultural employee who will join our operation for the fall 2019 semester. 

  If you have training in agriculture,  interest in local vegetable production and are excited about sharing agriculture life with the public to help further their knowledge of local food systems,  you could be our next hire. 

This position will report directly to a fourth generation owner/farmer who manages all the fields for our business which opens to the public in August and finishes up in November. 

 

 

Responsibilities

-  Assist owner with sustainable production work,  soil preparation work,  fall produce harvesting,  and assist in management of U-pick apple orchard,  fall vegetable field and pumpkin patch.

-  follow-up and care of a small group of farm animals enjoyed by our customers in a petting corral setting. 

-  Simple maintenance of farm equipment

Qualifications

The candidate should be organized,  autonomous,  but also enjoy working on a team of seasonal employees.  Spanish speaking a plus,  but not necessary. 

A positive outlook,  honesty,  tenacity and love of the outdoors are absolutely necessary to fit into our operation,  as well as an outgoing personality and love of community.
