Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Communications and Marketing team focused on corporate communications. This role is ideal for a student passionate about internal communications, social media, and employee engagement. You’ll gain hands-on experience in a dynamic corporate environment, supporting communication strategies that connect and inspire employees.

Supervision:

The Corporate Communications Intern will report to the Director of Corporate Communications.

 

Durations and Hours:

This part-time position requires approximately 10-20 hours per week, with flexible work hours scheduled within regular business hours. Start date and term length are flexible but are expected to be within the Fall 2025 semester, with a flexible start date in September 2025.

 

Compensation:

This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $15 per hour. If your academic institution allows you to receive course credit for internship experiences, you must coordinate credit requirements directly with your college or university and communicate to the Foundation any employer requirements (such as supervisory assessments) your institution requires for course credit.

Responsibilities

Corporate, Internal, and Social Communications

  • Assist in planning and executing internal communication strategies to enhance employee engagement and alignment.
  • Monitor MOHELA’s social media channels and draft proactive, brand-aligned content for platforms such as LinkedIn and Facebook.
  • Support the development of internal newsletters, announcements, and intranet content.

Employee Engagement & Recognition

  • Collaborate with the Employee Activities and Recognition Committee to brainstorm and support initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Assist in organizing and promoting employee events and engagement campaigns.

Content Creation

  • Draft and edit content for internal and external audiences, including emails, social media posts, and presentation materials.
  • Help maintain a consistent voice and tone across all communication channels.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Candidates must reside in Missouri.
  • Enrollment in an accredited Missouri college or university in an undergraduate program in communications, marketing, public relations, education, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • Ability to work from Chesterfield, MO or Columbia, MO office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with internal communications or employee engagement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics and scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social).
  • Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling and brand communication.
  • Basic data analysis and Excel skills (experience of data visualization tools a plus).
