The Big O Tires Intern will learn directly from our professionals in the automotive industry while lending assistance to the front lines of a Big O Tires store. Through this internship, they will gain experience in sales and management in the retail automotive industry. Additionally, we offer the opportunity for students to see how classroom knowledge applies on the job and help develop their understanding of the business through learning about our customer database system, payment processes, best practices in retail automotive customer service, and team management.

  • Learn to perform all necessary sales duties per company policy and procedure including, but not limited to, proper pricing, knowledge and implementation of promotions and sales, suggestive selling, proper vendor check-in, and stocking merchandise.
  • Aid in maintaining customer service area and for hosting waiting customers.
  • Assist in consistent opening and closing of location based on store hours of operation.
  • Assist in the completion of any necessary reports including the tracking and monitoring of daily sales and gross profit as well as inventory level monitoring.
  • Assist with merchandising, advertising, and promotions to effectively market products and services.
  • Attend weekly store meetings to review safety issues, store policies, procedures, and product information changes as required.
  • Prepare necessary sales documentation such as warranties, service agreements, and the recording and registration of tire sales.
  • Conduct efficient and accurate sales transactions; notify supervisor of any sales, cash, or operating discrepancies.
  • Consistently and courteously greet and thank each customer and provide fast and friendly customer service.
  • Maintain internal and external store appearance to comply with Big O Tires standards
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations concerning all facets of job responsibilities and duties, and store operations.
  • Participate in and contribute to MFA Oil’s formalized internship program.
  • Follow posted work schedule and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours worked.
  • All MFA Oil employees are expected to know and adhere to company and position specific policies and procedures. While this job description contains the primary duties of the position, employees may be expected to perform other duties as assigned.


  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • A current student or May graduate of current year required, preferably enrolled in an automotive program or have equivalent industry experience
  • Must have computer knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent customer service, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of good workflow principles
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with customers and store staff, including the ability to motivate employees to deliver positive customer experiences
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; manage competing demands, and deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
  • Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office and store productivity machinery
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers and supervisors
  • Ability to meet company requirements including successful pre-employment drug screening, criminal background, and MVR check
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with a high degree of time management skills.
  • Able to perform detail work with accuracy and grasp new concepts quickly.
  • Ability to work well with others and at a fast pace.
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, paying attention to detail and monitoring own work to ensure quality.
