We are currently seeking applicants for a Risk Management Intern in the Risk Management Department of our Accounting &  Finance Division located in Springfield,  MO.   This is a paid internship that offers employment during the 2022-2023 school year with the opportunity to continue through summer.  Normal working days are Monday through Friday.  You could also potentially receive course credit while working at AECI!   Contact your school’s career center for more information.

Responsibilities

Qualified applicants must be currently enrolled in a Risk Management curriculum or other related curriculum with an emphasis on risk and insurance,  as well as having successfully completed two (2)  years of work towards a bachelor’s degree with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or greater. 

Qualifications

As a Risk Management intern,  projects will likely include the following:

  • The preparation of insurance applications,  including the collection of data needed from other employees and members,  and updating the status of related open loss files.
  • Preparation of state required payments for workers’  compensation fees,  including gathering payroll information and completing quarterly reports.
  • Handling requests for insurance certificates from MECIP members and AECI vendors. 
  • Assist Principal Risk Analyst with claim information during a loss,  including data entry and spread sheet calculations.
  • Notifications to insurers on litigation matters,  including preparation of letters and tracking their receipts.
  • Participate in development of claims review meetings with gathering of information and development of PowerPoint presentations.
  • Help prepare notices to insurers on asbestos lawsuits and other incidents;  Participate in department and division meetings. 
  • Possible travel to plant locations and RIMS chapter meetings.
