Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources,  Division of Environmental Quality,  and will be located at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building at 1101 Riverside Drive,  Jefferson City,  MO   65101.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

  • Assist FAC with meeting the federal obligation to participate in the U.S.  Environmental Protection Agency’s (USEPA)  Clean Water Needs Survey
    • Gather needed information from municipalities regarding wastewater and stormwater infrastructure needs
    • Review technical and financial documents,  such as funding applications,  survey information,  and design documents (plans and specifications)
    • Extract and reference certain information from collected documents
    • Accurately input data input into USEPA’s data collection portal
  • Review and sort project files for scanning and electronic filing
  • Participate in project management discussion
  • Coordinate closely with potential financial assistance recipients,  engineering staff,  project managers,  regional planning agencies,  and others
  • Communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationship with potential financial assistance recipients and with Department colleagues
  • Assist with creating and/or maintaining standard operating procedures for the Financial Assistance Center’s funding programs

Qualifications

  • Current full-time student working toward a bachelor’s degree in biology,  natural resource/environmental,  agriculture,  or related sciences
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word as well as Adobe PDF
  • Must be able to spend the majority of a day reading reports and associated documents
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently on assigned projects
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend,  interpret,  and apply laws,  policies,  guidance,  procedures,  plans,  and reports
